Public Policy Essay Rubric - 20 point Formative, Due April 14
Public Policy has a somewhat expansive definition. Our class defines public policy as government's attempt to support the common good of the people. This may come in the form of restrictions, supports, limitations, and opportunity.
You have looked at a list of issues facing the United States today. Please complete a 2 page maximum, 1.5 spacing essay on one issue facing the United States today. Define and analyze if the United States government is doing a satisfactory job in address this issue. If the government is not doing a good job, what would you do to change the intervention?
Rubric:
Defining public policy and your specific issue (Thesis Statement)...................................5 points
Defining the problem
- Two crediable sources needed.
- Annotation (direct quotes)
- Your analysis of the problem. Why is it a major issue?...............................................10 points
Defining the solution
- Analysis of why the government's programs are working or not working......................5 points
